My best guy friend from highschool is soon to be a daddy!
Brian and I met and somehow became the best of buds in highschool. We pretty much did everything together for years. I have a million memories of concerts, beach trips, passing notes and laughing more than two people should ever laugh!
2.5 years ago Brian married Amanda in one of the sweetest wedding ceremonies I have ever attended.
Earlier this year I received a phone call from Brian. It was not long after I had made the announcement to my family that I was pregnant. I could tell from the giggle in his voice that he had heard the news. (He was college roomies with my cousin Matt, so I assumed that’s how he found out.) After apologizing profusely for not telling him myself and using my morning sickness as an excuse he said… “it’s been pretty crazy around here too…Amanda has been throwing up for about 12 weeks too!” We then spent the next 10-20 minutes giggling and congratulating each other and comparing due dates. Amanda is due a couple of weeks before me and now the race is on to see who has the 1st baby!
Last Sunday I dropped by their home to get a few maternity photos for them and take some detail photos in the nursery. I am so thrilled for both Amanda and Brian and can’t wait to meet Layne!
It’s been a LONG time (um, end of April) since I have picked up my camera and taken photos for someone besides myself. It was pretty interesting to switch my brain into camera mode again! Here are some of my favorites from the day.
The story that goes along with this is too cute not to share…
Amanda suggested that they make each other gifts for their 1st Valentine’s day together. Brian drew this for Amanda. Amanda fixed Brian’s computer chair. Guess who won the most brownie points? Now this sweet token of love sits in Layne’s Winnie the Pooh themed nursery. How sweet is that?!
As long as I have known Brian he has been called “Hatch” by everyone! (His last name is Hatcher.) When I saw this book on the book shelf all I could do was laugh. Amanda said it was the 1st book she bought for the baby when they found out they were expecting. Perfect for baby Hatch!
As I spent some time in Layne’s room it was easy to see the love that Amanda and Brian have put into the details to make it perfect. When I found out how many home-made items Amanda worked on this summer for the nursery, I was instantly impressed (and super jealous of her talent!)
That Diaper holder, crib bumper and crib skirt were all hand-made by Amanda! Not to mention the curtains, Layne’s name above the bed and the basket liners on the book shelf. Every where you look, you can see the love that is poured into the nursery!
Amanda has so many cute monogrammed items, or things with Layne’s name on them.

This one is my favorite though. Both of Amanda’s parents are deaf and Amanda is a teacher of special needs children in a local school system. Remember I said they had the sweetest wedding I have ever attended. Part of my reasoning for that is that the entire ceremony was also signed by the minister for the deaf friends and family in the audience. When I saw this onesie and hat, I was in love! It spells Layne’s name in sign language. Layne will be so lucky to grow up in a bi-lingual household!

I had so much fun hanging out with Brian and Amanda. I haven’t really spent much time with Amanda in the time they dated or in the years of their marriage. I could kick myself for not getting to know her sooner. She is so sweet and perfect for Brian. I can’t wait for our babies to arrive and for the play dates we are already planning!
