Sweet baby kitty… RIP, and an update on me

I know its been a while without an update from me about anything.

Sweet baby kitty didn’t make it. But boy oh boy was he LOVED in the 5 sweet days he had here on earth. Give 2 pregnant women a tiny thing to take care of and they will do just about anything to keep it alive.

unfortunately the one night I got to bring him home and take care of him was the same night that I ended up in Labor & Delivery for some excruciating abdominal pain. Baby Kitty went back to his other mother who did everything she could to keep him going. Unfortunately, even with a vets help, he was just TOO little and couldn’t hang on.

Here are a couple more precious pictures of our baby… look at that milk mustache! I wish I could have seen this little one grow up and romp around my house, but sometimes things just aren’t meant to be.

A quick update on me. Some of you have followed my last 12 days on Facebook. I was in and out of the hospital/doctors office 4 times last week with one overnight stay. I have had ultrasounds, blood work, ct scans, blood work, more ultrasounds, and more blood work. I have talked to 3 different doctors and 2 surgeons. I have been treated for a bladder infection and kept high as a kite on pain meds. There was a fear for a few days that my appendix was going to have to come out. Finally on Wednesday, the doctor informed me that I had a small abruption of my placenta. He believed this was causing my pain.  He put me on partial bed rest until I see my doctor again on Tuesday and I can see a specialist next week at UAB. Thankfully, I am feeling tons better and my pain has subsided back to a tolerable level. I have high hopes that when I do go back next week they won’t even see the bruising on my placenta. I kind of believe the docs were grasping straws by mid week and decided that maybe this was what was wrong. (I say this because they were basing it on an ultra sound I had on Saturday, but didn’t mention it to me until I was back in the hospital Tuesday night.)

Anywho… long ass story short… Baby Beck is FINE. Through all of this he has been perfect and healthy. Through  everything going on, his heart beat was steady and strong and he was moving and kicking like crazy. His momma is getting better too. A bit stir crazy, but better!

After all that crappy news… I hope everyone has had a fun-filled holiday weekend. Someone ride a boat, eat some burgers and drink a beer for me please! I will just hang out here on my couch and watch some more netflix!

sweet baby kitty

My friend and coworker, Kaylee, came to work this morning with a precious little problem.

Kaylee found it on her porch this morning. It still has its umbilical cord and it’s eyes aren’t open. Based on what we could find online it’s less than 4 days old.

We fed it every hour or two and oohed and ahhed over the sweet baby. The last thing 2 pregnant girls need is a day old kitten to care for. The baby went home with Kaylee tonight… I can’t wait to hear how much fun getting up every couple of hours is! I have offered to take it home later this week. We are hoping to keep it alive… it did really well today and seemed to gain some strength as the day progressed.

look at that face! sigh… I love it.

a kitty and some steaks (I mean cows)

Way back in November I took a mini road trip to Tennessee and Arkansas to visit friends and family. While spending a night with these awesome people, I had a chance to traipse through a few cow pastures and photograph farm animals. Basically cows and a barn kitty. Plus an awesome school bus. (I will be back on a nother day to show you the elusive school bus farm animal…ha!)

I was just browsing through my smugmug site and realized I had never shared these with you. Not that I think you care all that much, but I really liked the shots.

Meet Billy. We totally ate his son for dinner the night before…. He gave me some mean looks and acted like he was going to stampede me. I don’t really blame him.

I LOVED this barn kitty. I tried to get him to get in my pocket so I could take him home with me. He was quite content to sit there and let me take his picture though.

The next steak I will eat when I visit. Isn’t it cute! (Although now that I have put a face to the steak, I might have a hard time eating it)

I loved her horns! But stayed my distance. I think she would have defended the babies if I had gotten any closer.

Ok.
So that is my random cows and kitty post…
You are welcome!

Dogs don’t make it easy to photograph them…

But I like what I get from ‘em anyway!

Cats can be a little easier, though they really just can’t be bothered by you or your lens in their face!

ok. that’s my random animal picture post.

ps. These animals are not related. they belong to different friends. I just wanted to share them with you.

beach creatures and a bag of sand (m&m2010)

We thought this little guy was dead… Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug

I snagged this shot out of complete luck… right before he ran one direction and Mandy went running (squealing) in the other… he wasn’t dead btw.

We were pretty sure this one REALLY was dead…
Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug

but we took no chances* (jelly fish are less jelly than you would think. They should probably be called rubberfish.)*there were no jellyfish harmed in the making of this picture, promise.

Somthing used to live in there…

I am pretty sure this was a fish at some point. I think we saw it’s head floating around later. Crabby Mccrabberson up there probably helped nom on this…

and this is Mandy taking some sand home to her honey. All we had was a chick-fil-a bag. We work with what we have people!

prettier, less dead pictures later! :)

Some (or all) of my favorites from the zoo

All of these were taken at the Birmingham Zoo. The zoo has come a long way since I was a kid and is growing more. I enjoy it more and more every time I go. This also crosses #85 off my list.

Here are some more pictures from the day. My first set was posted here if you want to check those out.

I was only planning on posting the 2 that I loved the most. Then I started looking and couldn’t leave out the others that I liked the most too!!

The Gorillas were so much fun to watch. I really could have sat right there all day and watched them fight and chase each other! Amazing animals!

This guy posed for me for a while. I liked this shot the best.

This is my friend, she does not live at the zoo. But that little monkey with her probably should!

These last four (I know, I said 2! I have changed my mind again!) are my top picks from the day.

I couldn’t get a good shot of the whole animal, but I like what I did get!

I was super proud of this one since it was in a dark room through glass… I think I lucked up on the settings and it just worked. Plus I have a thing for beautiful snakes.

This one is included because I think it goes nicely with the next one of her napping mate.

My absolute FAV from the day. I am actually envisioning this one printed out and framed in my one day house.

I just loved the colors and how peaceful that beast seems. I adore his paw hugging the back side of the rock. When I look at it, it reminds me to slow down and relax. Aren’t naps the BEST!?

this little piggy… went to Marcy’s

My boss (and friend) has a farm. It’s a pet farm, not a “grow animals and food to eat” farm. After failing to figure out how many animals Mary Leigh actually had, I asked.

54. that’s right.. I said 54. You wanna run down? 9 dogs, 2 cats, 4 roosters, 5 hens, 11 chicks, 9 goats, 4 horses, 2 miniature horses, 2 pot belly pigs, 4 baby pot belly pigs, 1 bird and 1 llama. I could probably name most of them for you.. but my brain can barely wrap around that many animals!

I had plans to head out to the farm today and take some pictures. But we are having crazy windy rainy weather today. So instead I am hanging out in my pjs, blogging and organizing pictures.

When Bacon and Patty (yes… that’s daddy pig and mommy pig’s names) had their cute little ones around Easter, Mary Leigh started trying to find them homes. I wanted one. Wayne vetoed that idea quickly! A co-worker did decide to get one for her daughter’s birthday… So I got a chance to snap these…

how cute is that! I still want one. But I think I will have to get a farm first!
